Markell Property Management Ltd. is seeking a superintendent couple to perform duties related to the maintenance and operation of several buildings within the complex. The role does not include executive/management authority.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (BUT NOT LIMITED TO*):
- Performing various building maintenance and repairs, checks and inspections and keeping logs of same
- Working under the sole direction of the property manager (or management staff if applicable)
- General cleaning of all the buildings on a weekly basis
- Landscaping, including weekly lawn cutting, raking, blowing, etc.
- Ensuring the grounds are free of debris and clutter
- Snow removal on walkways, application of salt or sand as necessary to keep the walkways safe and clean; keep log journals of weather conditions and measures taken to keep walkways and parking lots safe
- Although the parking lot is outsourced to a private contractor, the superintendent will oversee that the desired effect of safety is achieved
- Control and maintenance of garbage area and ensuring orderliness and cleanliness
- Painting vacated apartments
- Ensure the equipment required for a job is maintained and in supply
- Be “on call” and respond to emergencies after hours and weekends
- Report any findings or concerns to the property manager
- *Other jobs, from time to time, within the perimeter of a superintendent or in keeping with the spirit of the position
SKILLS AND DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma minimum.
- Additional trade courses an asset
- Building maintenance experience
- Carpentry, electrical and plumbing skills (i.e.: fix drippy faucet, change lighting fixture, adjust closer on door, etc.)
- Ability to operate power tools and equipment safely and efficiently
- Be a team player and possess a pleasant and professional demeanor
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Be able to provide a Police Records Check
- Be able to do lifting and take three flights of stairs with ease
- Ability to work well with the property manager and the team
This is a full-time position with hours changing with the workload. Typically, a 40-hour work-week would be expected. This position may require working at different hours when the need arises, depending on such things as weather conditions, move-in and move-outs, emergencies, etc.
Salary $55-$60,000 per year

House is also available for rent if needed and situated on abutting property (3 bedrooms). Monthly rent $1500 plus utilities.
